At a glance

Kids’ martial arts in Aachen: martial arts for children and teenagers

In short: Kids’ martial arts in Aachen at Shouraki means three age groups. Panda trains from age 3 to 5, Ninja from age 6 to 8 and Samurai from age 9 to 15. Training takes place once a week in your child’s own group. Two free trial classes are included, and parents can use that time for their own free trial session in the fitness area.

Children learn more in martial arts than technique: they learn to follow rules, look out for each other and keep going when something does not work straight away. At Shouraki they train in three age groups, so that every child meets others of the same age.

Three groups

Three groups, one path

The groups are divided by age. You can see which one suits your child from the age range; if in doubt, we will advise you at the free trial class. When each group trains is shown in the timetable.

Partners
instead of opponents

If you are not careful, you hurt someone, and even a six-year-old understands that quickly. Consideration is not a rule imposed from outside here. It is what makes training possible at all.

For every age

When your child joins

When does your child join?

From 3

A boy happily continues his pad work, with the trainer holding the pads ready.

In the Panda group at three

A child who starts in the Panda group at three moves up to the Ninja group at six and to the Samurai at nine. The three groups build on each other.

Which group is next depends only on your child’s age.

Later

A girl with a red plait in black kickboxing kit hits the trainer's pad.

Joining later without catching up

The groups build on each other, but your child does not have to catch up if they join later. A child who only joins at ten starts straight away with the Samurai and learns the basics there.

All groups take beginners. The structure follows age, not previous experience.

From 16

Two teenagers continue their pad work, with more teenagers waiting on the bench in the background.

At 16 into the adult classes

Youth training ends at 16 and you continue in the adult classes: kickboxing, MMA, boxing, Wing Chun, ground fighting or Kali with the stick (knife training from 18).

The next step is already in the building. You can find everything about it under Martial arts in Aachen.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions from parents

Is martial arts right for my child?

Parents ask us this question most often. Two routes in our guide go into it in more detail.

What age can my child join?

From age 3 in the Panda group. The Ninja group is for 6 to 8-year-olds and the Samurai group for 9 to 15-year-olds. From age 16, training continues in the adult classes.

Can parents be present during training?

Yes. In the training hall there is a bench and a screened-off area with coffee for parents, as well as a comfortable waiting area and snacks and drinks.

Can I train while my child is in a class?

Yes, with your own membership for the fitness area. While your child trains in the kids' or youth group, you can work out on the equipment or attend one of the fitness classes running at the same time. The GRIT sessions, for example, are deliberately scheduled alongside the kids' classes. You can try the gym once for free.

How often does my child train each week?

Once a week in a fixed group. A children's and youth membership covers one kids' class, not several groups at the same time. Which day that is depends on the group's weekly timetable.

Does my child need experience to start?

No. All groups take beginners, and the structure follows age, not previous experience.

What does my child need to bring?

Sportswear, clean indoor shoes and something to drink. Any equipment needed can be provided for getting started.
